eruvin 31

not everything that is seen is obvious. when to make assumptions and when to dig deeper.

obvious looking cases are taught, because actually they refer to specific not-so obvious cases.
&
a trained elephant (or monkey) can deliver the food, to someone waiting for it, to make the eruv, if you stand and watch, looking at what is going on. but have to assume* that the elephant (or monkey) the food has been received and the mission is fulfilled, even if it is not obvious from so far away.
(after all, who can refuse food from an elephant, or monkey)

*Rav Yehiel has the principle that one has to assume that the messenger will deliver the message. clearly Rav Yehiel never used Royal Mail (or just insert the name of your own local postal service).
